The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Apapa Area Command, has posted an unprecedented revenue collection of ₦323 billion in July 2026, the highest monthly figure ever recorded by the Command. The landmark performance further underscores the strong results achieved under the leadership of Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, who earlier guided the Command to another record haul of ₦304 billion in October 2025. NEMA Rallies Stakeholders On Fire Prevention

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has called for stronger collaboration, investment in fire prevention and improved emergency coordination to reduce fire disasters in Kaduna State. The call was made on Monday at a stakeholders’ engagement on fire disaster management organised by the agency in Kaduna. The Head of NEMA Operations Office, Kaduna, Mrs Halima Suleiman, said coordinated action had become imperative as fire outbreaks continued to claim lives, destroy property and livelihoods, and cause huge economic losses. Represented by Ikramat Umar, Head of NEMA’s Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Unit, Suleiman identified electrical faults, gas explosions, unsafe handling of petroleum products, careless use of naked flames, bush burning, poor storage of combustible materials and weak compliance with fire safety regulations as major causes of fire outbreaks. AATF Urges Nigerian Farmers To Adopt Hybrid Seeds For Greater Productivity, Food Security

Nigerian farmers must shift from open-pollinated variety seeds to hybrid varieties such as Tela maize to cut production costs and strengthen the country’s food security, the African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF) has said. Sylvia Kyeyune, Vice Chairman of the AATF Board, gave the advice while leading a high-powered delegation on a visit to Kaduna State recently. She observed that Nigeria’s vast land resources have encouraged a mindset that tolerates low productivity, as farmers can plant large areas even with modest yields per acre. “You’re assuming that you have a lot of land and therefore productivity is not a very big deal,” Kyeyune said. “Someone can produce very little on a very large portion of land because they have the big land. But a country that has very small land must maximize the yield per acre... so in Nigeria because you have big land you somehow overlook productivity.
