NYA President Adopts 9-yr Enugu Girl


*Directs Aliyu Care Foundation to sponsor her education to university level

The President of the National Youth Alliance (NYA), Ambassador Aliyu Bin  Abbas has adopted a nine-year of girl in Enugu.

This was contained in a statement signed by his SA Media and Publicity, Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson, made avay to newsmen on Sunday.


According to the statement, Ambassador Abbas came across the nine-year old girl, Ugwu Divine Favour Chizaramekpere, while in Enugu for the NYA Inauguration of South East Local Government Coordination of the Alliance.


"While in Enugu, I was profoundly touched and inspired by a deeply personal moment that reflects the very essence of our mission. I had the privilege of embracing a young, brilliant, and promising 9-year-old girl, Ugwu Divine Favour Chizaramekpere, as my non-biological daughter.

"In recognition of her potential and as part of our unwavering commitment to nurturing the next generation, I have directed my Chief of Staff to formally include her in the Aliyu Care Foundation’s scholarship programme, which will support her educational journey through to university graduation. This gesture is not only symbolic but a reaffirmation of our belief that every child, regardless of background, deserves access to quality education and a future filled with opportunity," Ambassador Abbas said.

He further said that, "I remain deeply humbled and sincerely grateful to the good people of Enugu State for their overwhelming love, warmth, and shared passion in  our collective quest to birth a new Nigeria—one anchored on unity, compassion, and inclusive progress".

Customs FOU Zone ‘B’ Cracks Down On Smugglers Of Endangered Species

*Unit intercepts live pangolins along Kano–Jigawa axis The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone ‘B’, has intercepted two live pangolins being illegally transported along the Kano–Jigawa axis.   This was disclosed in a statement signed by the  CPRO  FOU Zone B, CSC NA Saidu, made available on Tuesday.   It informed that the arrest occurred on March 12, 2026 at about 10:00 hours. Operatives of the Unit, during a stop-and-search operation, flagged down the vehicle as part of a proactive enforcement sweep.   The seizure was effected pursuant to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), an international agreement that prohibits trade threatening the survival of wild species.   Upon interception, the animals were secured in appropriate cages and conveyed to the FOU Zone ‘B’ headquarters in Kaduna.
