Overwhelming Support From Constituents As Dr Matt Declares For Chikun Kaduna Assembly


*Says NDC committed to serving Nigerians.

*NDC Guber Aspirant likens 2027 to another independence  for Nigerians 



There was overwhelming support from constituents as Dr. Matthew Moses, popularly known as Dr. Matt on Saturday, publicly declared his ambition to contest for the Chikun Constituency, Kaduna State House of Assembly under the NDC Party.

It was a carnival-like procession as supporters escorted him with fanfare from the bridge linking Narayi with Barnawa to the Narayi LEA  Primary School where his official declaration took place.

 Gubernatorial aspirant of NDC in Kaduna State, Ibrahim H. Abdulkarim in his remarks at the well attended gathering, described the attendance as encouraging.


He said, "Nigeria is a blessed country. Kaduna is a blessed state, but they are not allowing us to enjoy this country. All they do is divide and rule."

He explained that he has been actively participating in politics since 2003, but is disappointed by those elected so far. 

"I am really disappointed in them, we provide the manifesto and ideas that will translate to development but they don't apply it. All they do is get those who have no vision and they end up disappointing us.

"I have been with Peter Obi for long and I know he is committed to Nigeria's unity," he said.

He alleged that kidnapping is being encouraged by people in government.

"They propose about N1bn to settle bandits then end up spending about N200m, pocketing the rest. With that development, how do we expect Banditry to end," he queried.

He likened the 2027 election to the fight for independence.

"The truth is that Nigeria can be fixed, but we are the ones to fix it.  We must do the fight through the ballots, we must not let them to divide us," he declared.

He added that, "let's fight for ourselves for the survival of humans".


He described Dr. Matt  as someone who has paid his dues and they are happy that he will provide good representation for Chikun Constituency at the Kaduna State House of Assembly come 2027.


The Chairman Kaduna Comedy and MCs Association, said that his association  has endorsed, and will support Dr. Matt.

"On behalf of Comedians and MCs Association in Kaduna, we are here, we endorse Dr. Matt for Chikun Kaduna State Assembly for 2027.

Dr. Matt in his declaration, said that NDC is committed to serving Nigerians.

"We have done a lot, we have been in politics in Nigeria since 1999.  We are now offering the desired change. I don't want us to go in the way of the old. We are tired of give us N200 and we give you our votes. We sell our votes, we collect indomie, spaghetti and sell our votes and end up without getting desired dividends of democracy.

"I have never in my life, been a politician. I have never attempted to be in politics. We have come to serve, I have  not come to be rich. I am comfortable  in my own little way. We have been supporting widow's, orphans and others through Dr. Matt Foundation. Because of the good works we have been doing, they said we should come and contest. All my friends that contributed to buy my form of interest I thank you all we are here to serve you. If you want to vote, vote us because of God and the dividends of democracy we will provide.

"God bless Nigeria, God bless Chikun LGA," he declared.

Other stakeholders including youth, women and elder statesmen in Chikun LGA who spoke at the declaration ceremony, were optimistic that with Dr. Matt in charge, Chikun Constituency would be in safe hands.

Speaking separately, they urged residents of Chikun to make the right choice by supporting all the candidates of NDC and Dr. Matt in particular.

Customs FOU Zone ‘B’ Cracks Down On Smugglers Of Endangered Species

*Unit intercepts live pangolins along Kano–Jigawa axis The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone ‘B’, has intercepted two live pangolins being illegally transported along the Kano–Jigawa axis.   This was disclosed in a statement signed by the  CPRO  FOU Zone B, CSC NA Saidu, made available on Tuesday.   It informed that the arrest occurred on March 12, 2026 at about 10:00 hours. Operatives of the Unit, during a stop-and-search operation, flagged down the vehicle as part of a proactive enforcement sweep.   The seizure was effected pursuant to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), an international agreement that prohibits trade threatening the survival of wild species.   Upon interception, the animals were secured in appropriate cages and conveyed to the FOU Zone ‘B’ headquarters in Kaduna.
