South East LP Chairmen Back Agada For Presidency

Chairmen of the Labour Party (LP) across the South East have endorsed former National Chairman of the party, Arc. Dr. Peter Agada, as their preferred presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 general election.

The endorsement was announced during a high-level consultative meeting held in Umuahia, Abia State, on Wednesday night, as political alignments and consultations intensify ahead of the next electoral cycle.

The development is expected to strengthen Agada’s growing presidential movement within reform-oriented and technocratic political circles, where he has continued to project himself as a candidate focused on infrastructure-driven governance and institutional reforms.

Five-State Consultation, Stakeholders’ Conference Launched

As part of efforts to consolidate support for his presidential ambition, the South East party leaders also flagged off a five-state consultative forum and stakeholders’ conference aimed at mobilising grassroots engagement across the region.

The initiative is expected to drive political consultations, stakeholder engagement, and mobilisation of party supporters at ward, local government, and state levels across the South East.

Party leaders at the meeting described the move as part of broader efforts to reposition the Labour Party ahead of the 2027 elections while building support around candidates perceived to possess governance competence and reform credentials.

Party Leaders Attend Meeting

Among those present at the meeting were the Labour Party Chairman in Anambra State, Peter Okoye, and the Enugu State Chairman, Ugwu Kingsley.

Representatives from Imo State also attended the gathering, while Ebonyi State was represented by the State Secretary, Igiri Innocent, and Pastor Benjamin Ugwu.

The South East Coordinator of the party, Mrs. Ijeoma Chukwu, was equally in attendance.

Agada Meets Abia Deputy Governor

In continuation of his consultations, Dr. Agada also held a separate meeting with the Deputy Governor of Abia State on the same day.

The discussions reportedly focused on his presidential ambition, strategic partnerships, and the need for wider political collaboration ahead of the 2027 presidential contest.

The consultations form part of ongoing engagements by the former LP national chairman as he seeks to expand his political reach beyond movement-based and policy advocacy networks into broader grassroots structures.

Campaign Built Around Infrastructure Reform

Agada’s presidential aspiration has increasingly been shaped around what he describes as the need for technically driven leadership capable of addressing Nigeria’s infrastructure and governance challenges.

His campaign messaging centres on integrated national planning, infrastructure efficiency, project accountability, and economic restructuring.

The presidential hopeful argues that Nigeria’s governance crisis is largely a failure of coordination, execution discipline, and long-term development planning rather than the absence of policy ideas.

Technocratic Background Shapes Presidential Message

With nearly three decades of professional experience in architecture, infrastructure strategy, and acoustic engineering, Agada has continued to present his technical background as a major strength of his candidacy.

He is the Principal of Cyrus Acoustics Sound C4i & Co. Limited, with professional engagements spanning infrastructure systems, highways, logistics hubs, agro-industrial development, energy systems, and security-related projects.

His supporters believe that his experience in infrastructure planning and systems coordination positions him as part of a new generation of presidential aspirants advocating practical governance reforms rooted in technical expertise.

Focus on Economic Production, Project Completion

Central to Agada’s policy proposals is what he describes as a “finish-first” infrastructure policy aimed at prioritising the completion of abandoned projects before initiating new ones.

He has also advocated stronger project auditing mechanisms, transparent cost verification systems, and tighter accountability measures in public infrastructure delivery.

Another major aspect of his economic vision is the Agro-Industrial Cluster model, designed to establish production hubs across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones in order to stimulate manufacturing, agriculture, logistics integration, and job creation.

Political Structure Still Developing

Although Agada’s ideas have continued to gain attention within reform-oriented and professional circles, his national political structure is still regarded as developing compared to more established political actors.

His emergence in the presidential race reflects a broader attempt to reposition Nigeria’s political conversation around systems thinking, institutional coordination, and infrastructure-led development.

Political observers believe one of the major tests of his candidacy will be his ability to translate technocratic credibility into widespread grassroots acceptance and electoral competitiveness ahead of the 2027 elections.
