2027: Lokpobiri Calls On Women, Health Professionals to Back Tinubu
Dr Ogechi Lokpobiri, National Coordinator of the Tinubu Health Sector Practitioners Alliance (TIHSEPA), has called on Nigerian women and health-sector professionals to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
Lokpobiri made the call on Friday in Abuja, urging Nigerians to support the administration’s reform agenda despite the short-term difficulties associated with some of its policies.
She said the reforms were aimed at addressing longstanding structural challenges, strengthening the economy and creating a foundation for sustainable development.
According to her, the policies were beginning to reshape critical sectors of the economy and could improve Nigeria’s relevance in the international community if implementation was sustained.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has demonstrated the courage to take difficult decisions in the interest of the country. While reforms may come with challenges, we must also look at their broader objectives and the opportunities they are creating for a stronger and more sustainable Nigeria,” she said.
Lokpobiri, who is the wife of the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, urged women to participate actively in the political process and support programmes they believe would improve the welfare of their families and communities.
She called for peaceful mobilisation in support of government interventions in healthcare, social welfare and economic empowerment.
“Women cannot afford to remain on the sidelines. We have a responsibility to participate actively in the affairs of our country and to support policies and programmes that we believe will advance the wellbeing of our families and communities,” she said.
The TIHSEPA coordinator also praised First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, describing her as an “Icon of Impact” for her interventions in support of women, children and vulnerable Nigerians.
She highlighted the Renewed Hope Initiative and other programmes focused on social welfare, healthcare, education and economic empowerment, saying they complemented the administration’s development agenda.
Lokpobiri noted that the First Lady’s advocacy for women and families had reinforced the need for inclusive leadership and stronger support systems for vulnerable citizens.
On the health sector, she called on medical practitioners and other professionals to contribute their expertise to national development and ongoing efforts to improve healthcare delivery.
She said a healthier population was essential for productivity and economic growth, adding that Nigeria needed a more responsive and accessible healthcare system.
She reaffirmed TIHSEPA’s commitment to engaging health professionals and other stakeholders on healthcare reforms and initiatives designed to improve the wellbeing of Nigerians.
Lokpobiri further appealed for national unity, urging citizens to allow the Federal Government to consolidate its policies and programmes.
She expressed optimism that sustained implementation of the reform agenda would expand opportunities for Nigerians and strengthen the country’s position globally.
